Halifax, NS (May 27th) – On May 27th the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) hosted over 120 member businesses from across Nova Scotia for their Annual General Meeting at White Point Beach Resort.
The agenda included updates on key issues including air access into Nova Scotia, as well as a progress report on the development of a new Tourism Sector Strategic Plan, being co-led by TIANS and Tourism Nova Scotia. “This new model for tourism will provide a wholistic framework around the visitor economy,” says Kevin Toth, TIANS Chairman Elect. “We are charting a new course and that will require all of us; business operators, government leaders, policy makers, to embrace change and do things differently to advance a new economic framework for tourism”.
“Tourism is incredibly important to the economic, social, cultural and environmental health of the province,” says Darlene Grant Fiander, TIANS President. “In 2023, tourism revenues exceeded $3 Billion, generating significant tax revenues for governments and employing 50,000 Nova Scotians”.
During the 2024 Annual General Meeting, the membership elected a new Board of Directors with Industry leaders representing all sectors and geographic regions of the province.
